Plateau Valley School District 50 is committed to supporting student health and wellness through strong nutrition practices and regular physical activity. Our Local Wellness Policy outlines the district’s goals for promoting lifelong healthy habits and ensuring a positive learning environment for all students.

In alignment with district policy, a district-wide wellness advisory council meets regularly in coordination with the Plateau Valley Accountability Committee (PV-AC). This group monitors implementation of the wellness policy, evaluates progress toward district goals, and conducts the required triennial assessment.

Stakeholder Involvement

Parents, students, staff, and community members are encouraged to participate in the wellness process. Membership in the PV-AC (Wellness Committee) is open to all stakeholders.

• Information about participation opportunities is shared with families and the community through district communications and postings on the district website.
• Meetings are held in coordination with the district accountability committee and are open to the public.

Triennial Assessment

The district completes a comprehensive review of its Local Wellness Policy every three years. This process includes:

• Evaluating compliance with the wellness policy
• Comparing district practices to model wellness policies
• Measuring progress toward nutrition and physical activity goals

The most recent triennial assessment was completed on March 11 in coordination with the PV-AC. The agenda link is here. Assessment tools, including the Colorado Local Wellness Policy Toolkit, are used to guide this process.
